Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a highly skilled RN to join the Transplant: Post Heart and Mechanical Circulatory Support team in Winston-Salem. You will coordinate patient evaluation, educate patients and families, and assist with preoperative planning for heart transplant and VAD.

The role requires a BSN, NC RN license, 5 years in cardiology or cardiothoracic surgery, and strong interpersonal skills. On-call schedule, 40 hours/week, and on-site work with on-call weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited nursing school; NC RN licensure required.
• Minimum 5 years in cardiology and/or cardiothoracic surgery.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; PC proficiency.
• May serve as Primary VAD Coordinator with advanced training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient evaluation and relay data to transplant team.
• Educate patients and families on transplantation and VAD care.
• Coordinate preoperative preparation and inform OR/ICU staff.
• Coordinate intraoperative phase and organ logistics.
• Supervise care of transplant/VAD patients and post-op orders.
• Coordinate outpatient care and discharge planning.
• Contribute to program development and marketing strategies.
• Plan staff education on transplant/VAD topics; maintain manuals.
• Maintain knowledge and ongoing professional growth.
• Ensure infection control and safety protocols.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care per guidelines.
