Job summary

UPMC Southwestern PA in Pennsylvania is recruiting a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to participate in advanced training across two high-volume services, with graded responsibility toward independence under the division co-chiefs. The fellowship is rotation-based and focuses on surgical management within a comprehensive transplant program.

Qualifications

• Expertise in heart transplant surgery.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to teaching junior fellows and residents.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, ICU rounding, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart and lung failure teams, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
• Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant and related procedures.
• Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
• Participate in call as assigned.
