Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to participate in advanced training across two high‑volume services in Pennsylvania. The fellowship is rotation‑based, with graded responsibility toward independence under the division co‑chiefs, including surgical management and bedside teaching for junior cardiothoracic fellows and residents.

You will lead day‑to‑day transplant inpatient care, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and participate in organ offers, conferences, and OR planning.

Qualifications

• Experience in heart transplant care and teaching.
• Ability to collaborate across cardiology, pulmonology, and subspecialty teams.
• Commitment to resident and fellow education.

Responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre‑, intra‑, and postoperative care.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, ECMO/VAD teams, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work and care management.
• Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant procedures.
• Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
• Participate in call as assigned.
