Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks an experienced Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) in Heart Failure for day shifts at US-NY-Stony Brook. Responsibilities include assessing patients, planning care, administering medications, and coordinating with the care team.

The role requires NY RN licensure and at least 2 years in cardiology, with preferred acute care and heart failure exposure. Telemetry and ACLS/BLS certifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in New York State.
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiology experience in inpatient and/or outpatient care.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred with 2+ years outpatient Cardiology and 2 years Heart Failure experience.
• Telemetry/CCU experience and certifications (BLS/ACLS) encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' condition and nursing needs; coordinate with the care team.
• Develop individualized care plans including teaching and discharge planning.
• Administer direct patient care and medications as prescribed.
• Maintain infection control practices and a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain written plans of care and patient goals.
• Document patient/family teaching and response in medical records.
• Participate in quality assurance activities within the unit or hospital.
