Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Cardiac Cath Lab, full-time days. The role supports diagnosis and treatment through nursing care, care planning, medication administration, and infection control, with emphasis on cardiac cath procedures and critical care readiness.

The position requires New York RN licensure, with preferred Bachelor of Nursing and 1+ year acute hospital experience in cardiology/critical care. Cath Lab experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Administer direct patient care when nursing skills are needed.
• Administer medications.
• Maintain infection control and a clean, safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to RN/Clinician.
• Maintain written plan of care and set patient/family goals.
• Document patient/family teaching and comprehension in medical records.
• Coordinate with other staff and departments.
• Participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities.
