Fairview Health Services in Maplewood, MN is seeking a Nursing Station Technician/Monitor Tech to support the St. John’s Hospital team. The role involves 48 hours every two weeks on the Day shift, with 8-hour shifts and every other weekend.

You will observe cardiac monitors, assist with patient care, and help coordinate tests and communications on the unit. The position emphasizes collaboration with nursing staff and ongoing competency in EKG monitoring and patient care tasks.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. OnTrack participants must be able to obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
• Six months of direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, with one semester of clinical rotation completed
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (not required if transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech role)
• Must take the EKG Monitoring Course and pass the competency exam within 180 days

Responsibilities

• Observe and respond to patient needs; provide patient care including vitals, bathing, feeding.
• Assist with environment care: stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms; transport as needed.
• Coordinate communications on the unit; schedule tests and procedures; maintain unit stock and equipment.
• Observe cardiac monitors and report abnormalities to nursing staff; support a team-based care approach.
• Foster a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
