Job summary

A community-focused nonprofit organization in the Town of Hamden is seeking a Seasonal HEAP Administrative Assistant to conduct interviews and perform data entry tasks. Ideal candidates should possess a valid NYS Driver’s license, have strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Qualifications

  • Valid NYS Driver’s license required.
  • Two years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct HEAP interviews with applicants.
  • Perform data entry tasks to assure accuracy.
  • Work closely with the Department of Social Services.
  • Keep accurate files.
  • Answer calls regarding HEAP and energy assistance programs.
  • Staff HEAP outreach sites as required.
  • Assist HEAP Examiner in resource file management.
  • Perform general office work.

Delaware Opportunities, Inc. is seeking 2 full-time Seasonal HEAP Administrative Assistant for our Hamden location.

Pay range to start at $20.84 per hour.

Start dates for these positions are tentative at this time.

The ideal candidate must be hard working, reliable, and trustworthy.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct HEAP interviews with applicants
  • Perform data entry tasks to assure accuracy
  • Work closely with the Department of Social Services, fuel vendors and utility companies
  • Keep accurate files
  • Answer calls, respond to questions regarding HEAP, Weatherization and other energy assistance programs
  • Staff HEAP outreach sites as required
  • Assist HEAP Examiner in developing and maintaining resource files
  • Perform general office work
Qualifications

  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to work as a team and to work independently
  • High school diploma or GED with coursework in business math, bookkeeping, or keyboarding and/or two years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping and working with the public
