Job summary

Fairfield Medical Center is seeking a Unit Clerk to perform clerical and receptionist duties under the direction of the Staff RN. You will monitor telemetry, maintain patient charts, transcribe orders, and answer phones while greeting visitors.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, prior clerical or healthcare experience is preferred, and on-the-job training is provided. Physical duties include light to moderate lifting as described in the job posting.

Qualifications

• Transcribes physician orders and has knowledge of order entry system.
• Maintains department records and statistics.
• Orients and trains new employees.

Responsibilities

• Watches telemetry monitors and alerts RN of changes.
• Updates patient charts and graphs vital signs, heights and weights.
• Performs general receptionist duties: answers phone, screens calls, refers calls, takes messages, greets visitors.
• Transcribes physician orders and communicates patient needs to nursing staff.
• Maintains department records and statistics.
