Job summary

Fairfield Medical Center is seeking a Unit Clerk to support nursing staff by performing clerical and receptionist duties, monitoring telemetry, updating patient records, and transcribing orders. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills to ensure accurate charting and timely information flow in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include answering calls, greeting visitors, maintaining records, and assisting with patient care tasks under the guidance of a Staff RN.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical and receptionist duties under RN supervision.
• Observe telemetry monitors and alert RN of changes.
• Maintain patient charts and update graphs of vital signs.
• Transcribe physician orders and use the order entry system.
• Answer phones, screen calls, greet visitors and assist.
• Maintain department records and statistics.
• Orient and train new employees.
• Monitor patient destination and chart location.
