Job summary

QBE North America is offering a healthcare liability underwriting internship in New York, NY. This program provides exposure to professional liability, medical malpractice coverages, and collaboration with underwriting professionals across the organization.

You will gain technical insurance knowledge, business acumen, and professional skills in a team-oriented, supportive environment during the summer internship from June to August 2026.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a 4-year college pursuing a bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, healthcare administration, business, finance, economics, or related field.
• Course work or relevant experience with demonstrated achievements.
• Ability to work from June 1, 2026, to August 6, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Learn and model QBE values through participation in required training classes.
• Develop and implement performance and developmental coaching plans with manager support.
• Participate in weekly training sessions gaining insight across QBE North America.
• Build relationships with underwriters, assistant underwriters, claims professionals, risk solutions specialists, and other business partners.
• Support underwriting activities by reviewing account information, conducting research, and assisting with policy transactions.
• Learn fundamentals of healthcare liability underwriting, including evaluation of healthcare organizations, medical professionals, and risks.
• Gain exposure to healthcare liability products, coverage forms, and risk management considerations.
• Assist in analyzing financial, operational, and risk-related information used in underwriting decisions.
• Support agency and broker relationship activities through communications, meetings, and service-related initiatives.
• Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, diversity and inclusion, creativity, and professionalism.
