Job summary

The Systems Integration Engineer at Cook Children's Health Care System collaborates with IS Epic and clinical teams to develop integrated interfaces and middleware solutions, ensuring interoperability across laboratory, radiology, billing, and health plan systems.

Responsibilities include designing system specifications, data mappings, developing code, and resolving interface issues while applying HL7, XML, and REST/SOAP standards in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BA/BS degree preferred; may have equivalent experience.
• 1 year experience with an interface engine is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with interface development using XML, HL7, FTP, or TCP/IP, preferably in healthcare.
• Minimum 2 years’ direct healthcare-related experience preferred.
• Epic certification required within 6 months of hire; other certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and modify system specifications and builds.
• Develop and modify code, functions, and routines for interfaces.
• Data mapping, establishing interfaces, and troubleshooting integration issues.
• Provide consulting to application teams and vendors on integration strategies.
• Design and evaluate data interchange formats; document data policies and standards.
