Job summary

Summary

The Healthcare Systems Engineer provides the rigorous, comprehensive approach and means to assess, develop, validate and manage a complex, operational system. The system of interest is the system of systems required to eliminate preventable harm and improve patient outcomes. These systems include human factors, processes, technology and information spanning the delivery and documentation of patient care to the transmission and analysis of data used to measure the safety and quality of care. The Systems Engineer's role is to achieve the integration, precision and efficiency in systems from patient care to external transmission to assure the external analysis of transmitted data accurately measures the excellent care provided.

The Systems Engineer develops a deep technical understanding of these systems and component elements. Documents the concept of operations, functional requirements, and interfaces. Monitors and assesses the operation of the systems by developing operational telemetry and data reports to analyze performance data. Develops system design changes to improve reliability and efficiency. Works independently and in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to implement system improvements. Manages projects, leads teams, and works in working groups as required. Facilitates the prioritization, efficiency, and evaluation of the work of other team members through the development and provision of technology tools and data reports. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Healthcare Systems Engineer reports directly to the Armstrong Institute Senior Director of Operational Excellence. Prepares comprehensive and accurate project plans, status reports, presentations, and evidence-based decision packages.

Education & Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, other engineering or applied science discipline, applied mathematics, computer or data science, or other similar technical field AND five (5)+ years of relevant experience -OR-
  • Master’s degree or PhD in systems engineering, other engineering or applied science discipline, applied mathematics, computer or data science, or other similar technical field AND three (3)+ years of relevant experience.
  • Additional training in systems engineering, data analysis, quality assurance, technical management, and process improvement preferred.
Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training
  • INCOSE or other systems engineering and computer science-related certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Lean Sigma Black Belt certification strongly preferred.
Salary Range

Minimum 49.01/hour - Maximum 78.43/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
