Job summary

Howard University is seeking Standardized Patients (SPs) to simulate clinical scenarios and teach essential skills to health sciences learners. Training is mandatory, with both teaching and evaluative duties.

SPs may be examined by students and faculty and will provide constructive feedback during sessions. Roles are supervised by the SP Educator, Administrative Manager, Operations Manager and the Director of Simulation & Clinical Skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; must be eligible to work in the US; computer literate and proficient.
• Must successfully complete HU Introduction to Standardized Methodology workshop for scheduling.
• Preferred: experience as a Standardized Patient (SP) or in an academic/healthcare/simulation setting.

Responsibilities

• Simulate all aspects of scenarios including history, behavior and physical findings in a standardized, accurate manner.
• Provide verbal and written feedback to learners using structured methods.
• Wear professional clinical attire for work assignments, especially on camera or live observation.
• Complete checklists with high accuracy (target 95%).
• Be comfortable with repeated physical examination maneuvers performed by learners and faculty.
• Be willing to be audio/video recorded during simulations.
• Follow supervisors' instructions and HU policies; maintain professionalism.
• Assist with scheduling and adapt to course requirements as needed.
