Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Security Officer to perform general security duties, support enforcement of security and safety regulations, and prepare documentation. The role involves patrols, incident reporting, and collaborative work with Hospital Police and staff at UNC Medical Center in Butner, NC.

CPR certification and a valid NC driver’s license are required; prior security experience preferred. Salary ranges from $18.84 to $26.77 per hour, with a full-time 40-hour work week and onsite duties.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively via two-way radio, computer, email, telephone and verbal communications within the Hospital Police Department and with staff, visitors and patients.
• Responds to emergencies; assists with transportation of patients and escorting to units; maintains knowledge of emergency codes and hospital response procedures.
• Operates security posts, screens for authorized entry, and monitors parking areas; enforces policies and ensures safety.
• Completes and documents trespass, intervention and use-of-force reports; conducts risk assessments as required; secures property and transports documents.
• Patrols assigned areas, documents hazards, assists with access to secured areas, and redirects individuals in violation of policy.
