Job summary

UNC Health Care in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Security Officer to perform general security work, enforce safety regulations and support the department with reporting and investigations.

The role includes responding to emergencies, controlling post access, patrolling, and coordinating with Hospital Police and other agencies. Requires a high school diploma, NC driver’s license, CPR certification and at least 1 year of prior experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid North Carolina drivers license with driving record requirements met.
  • CPR certification required prior to completion of 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Communications: Operate two-way radio, computer, email, telephone and coordinate with staff and other agencies.
  • Emergency Response: Assist with mental health custody, arrange transportation, escort patients, respond to alarms and assist in emergency situations.
  • Fixed Post Functions: Manage ED entry, operate screening systems, monitor parking, staff night entrance and other posts as needed.
  • Investigations and Incident Reporting: Complete trespass and use-of-force reports with narrative entries; secure items and perform risk assessments.
  • Patrol: Maintain daily logs, escort personnel to parking, provide after-hours access, document hazards, manage morgue procedures and transport specimens.
  • Traffic Control: Conduct parking surveys, enforce regulations, arrange towing, report equipment malfunctions.
