Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers at Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, MT. You will monitor premises, enforce policy, and respond to emergencies to protect people and property.

The role involves operating security systems, de-escalation, handling potential violence, complying with HIPAA and legal requirements, and participating in safety drills to maintain a secure environment for all.

Qualifications

• Current Driver's License (if applicable for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.
• De-escalation: use verbal and non-verbal strategies to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Intervenes to protect safety when patients act aggressively or violently, including using restraints when necessary.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, reporting crimes or incidents with the minimum necessary information.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following safety protocols.
• Participate in drills and security exercises to prepare staff for real-life events.
• Conduct respectful searches of patients and narcotics searches in compliance with legal requirements.
• Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces, fire extinguishers, and overall facility safety.
• Enforce parking regulations to enhance safety and patient experience.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations and disclosure of information as required.
