Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees and volunteers in a clinic setting. You will monitor security cameras, access control, and alarms while enforcing policy and responding to emergencies.

Your duties include de-escalation, assisting with drills and searches, maintaining parking safety and coordinating with HR and law enforcement on investigations, all while upholding HIPAA and facility safety standards.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarms.
• De-escalation: use verbal and non-verbal strategies to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Protect safety when patients act aggressively or violently, including using restraints when necessary.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when reporting crimes or incidents and disclose only the minimum information.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following safety protocols.
• Participate in drills such as infant abduction and active shooter scenarios.
• Conduct respectful searches of patients and searches for narcotics in compliance with the law.
• Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers.
• Enforce parking regulations to enhance safety and patient experience.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement to conduct investigations.
