Intermountain Health Layton Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers in an ambulatory setting.Responsibilities include monitoring security systems, enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, and assisting with crowd control and de-escalation.

The role requires alertness, valid driver’s license, and BLS or ability to obtain within 90 days. The position offers competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security technology systems including surveillance cameras, access control, and alarms.
• De-escalation: Security officers use verbal and non-verbal strategies to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Intervene to protect safety when patients act aggressively or violently, including use of restraints when necessary.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when reporting crimes or incidents.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following protocols.
• Participate in drills to prepare staff for emergencies.
• Conduct searches of patients and searches for narcotics per legal requirements.
• Conduct safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers.
• Enforce parking regulations to ensure safety and patient experience.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement for investigations.
