Job summary

Luminis Health in Lanham, MD seeks a Security Officer to protect patients, staff and property across the Medical Center campus. Responsibilities include surveillance, responding to emergencies, and enforcing access control with strong attention to safety.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, may have healthcare safety experience, and should obtain Maryland guard credentials. The role offers a structured environment with opportunities to train and advance within our health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of healthcare safety and security experience preferred but not required.
• Must pass a criminal records background check prior to employment.
• Maryland Security Guard Card preferred.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to complete Conflict Management training within six months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain personal and asset security through hazard surveillance rounds.
• Respond to emergency calls promptly and assist with patient restraints as needed.
• Conduct searches for weapons, contraband, and unauthorized items.
• Prepare and submit written reports and logs accurately and timely.
• Provide safety escorts and traffic control as required.
• Readiness to work different shifts and participate in drills.
