Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing.
• Training in de-escalation and healthcare security practices preferred.
• No prior security experience required.
• Experience in healthcare, public safety or security-related environments preferred.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and be insurable.
• License: State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer within 90 days.
• CPI Certification within 60 days and annual renewal.
• IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within 60 days and maintain.

Responsibilities

• Provides escorts for visitors, employees, students, and authorized people on request.
• Patrols hospital areas 24/7, on foot, bicycle, or vehicle, in all weather.
• Provides access support for authorized personnel including restricted areas.
• Detects suspicious activity and responds to safety concerns.
• Reports criminal activity, suspicious behavior, and policy violations to leadership/law enforcement.
• Investigates accidents, gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and documents with reports.
• Assists medical staff with enforcement of Florida statutes using approved restraints as directed.
• Works with law enforcement on patient/prisoner intake and supervision during hospitalization.
• Responds to threats, elopement, disturbances, alarms, and other emergencies.
• Operates security equipment including walk-through detectors and X-ray machines.
• Maintains attendance and compliance with policies and procedures.
