Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Security Officer to assist with protecting, securing and promoting safety across a hospital campus. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and compliance with licensing/certification standards as applicable.

The candidate should have at least one year of security experience, prefer healthcare familiarity, and be able to communicate clearly in English. Strong computer skills are required to excel in this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year security-related experience required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Must be able to understand and communicate in English (verbal and written).
• Proficiency in the use of computers is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors assigned areas to maximize security visibility; posts or patrols; controls vehicular access to buildings and parking areas.
• Reports fire and safety hazards, suspicious activities, and breaches of security.
• Manages building visitor and materials pass programs; knows hospital and department policies.
• Responds to security and emergency situations; assists patients, visitors and staff with escorts and directions.
• Operates and maintains security equipment; submits required reports/logs during shift.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies and budgetary constraints.
• Supports department goals by continuing education and acting as a resource to less experienced staff.
• Models Memorial Hermann service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences.
