Job Description

Location: The position is fully remote with the ideal candidate located within a two-hour radius of Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., or Baltimore. This role involves field representation for multiple West Virginia University Medicine projects under construction (Berkeley, Fairmont, and Ruby campuses). It is not a full-time Construction Administration role.

Primary Function

Responsible for the design and technical systems for healthcare projects from schematics through construction administration. The candidate should have healthcare project experience and excellent communication skills, both verbal and graphical, to oversee project milestones and maintain alignment with project goals. The role demands a hands-on leader and strategic thinker to grow the company and sector.

Typical Duties
  1. Develop building system concepts and documentation from schematic design through construction administration.
  2. Support project pursuits by assisting in scope development with the Project Manager and Principal in Charge.
  3. Lead on large, complex projects when assigned.
  4. Oversee project team members.
  5. Prepare and monitor Discipline Work Plans.
  6. Conduct code research using UpCodes platform.
  7. Research materials and products for project development.
  8. Develop and edit project specifications in RIB SpecLink.
  9. Sign and seal documentation when responsible.
  10. Attend project meetings as needed.
  11. Coordinate with other discipline team leaders throughout project phases.
  12. Lead technical reviews following the HED Design Process.
  13. Work with authorities to secure approvals.
  14. Review submittals during bidding and construction.
  15. Ensure quality architectural and engineering services within the team.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and Architect licensure in the US required; NCARB Certification preferred.
  • LEED accreditation with a passion for sustainable design.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in the A/E industry, specifically in healthcare projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all project phases and disciplines.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and delegate to staff.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Willingness to work remotely using video conferencing tools.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.

Physical Requirements
  • Travel to project sites for meetings and evaluations.
  • Access to project sites for observation and investigation.
  • Use of communication and documentation equipment.
  • Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
