Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience; CA payroll experience strongly preferred.
• Experience independently processing payroll for a multi-department workforce preferred.
• Experience with Rippling, ADP, or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform preferred.
• Knowledge of California wage-and-hour requirements including overtime and final pay.
• Experience with benefits deductions, payroll reconciliation, and payroll corrections.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with payroll reports and large data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to manage deadlines and follow up with managers.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process biweekly payroll accurately and on time for ~225 employees.
• Review timecards for completeness and accuracy; obtain manager approval before processing.
• Identify discrepancies, missing punches, and unapproved timecards; follow up before payroll.
• Perform pre-payroll audits and verify regular hours, overtime, and special differentials.
• Process retroactive pay, adjustments, and off-cycle payments as needed.
• Review hires, terminations, and changes to ensure accurate reflection in payroll.
• Coordinate final wage calculations and timely final pay for separating employees per CA requirements.
• Reconcile payroll and conduct post-payroll reviews; maintain documentation per retention policies.
• Support benefits administration and other HR functions intersecting payroll.
