Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Collector responsible for pursuing collections on assigned accounts, contacting patients and insurers by phone or mail to resolve payment issues and arrange plans. The role maintains AR files and supports write-off processes with detailed documentation.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of relevant experience; background in healthcare collections is preferred and equal opportunity employment is practiced.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year of experience in a relevant role, preferably in healthcare collections.

Responsibilities

• Performs collection activities for assigned accounts and contacts patients, insurance companies, attorneys, employers, and physicians to resolve payment issues or arrange payment plans.
• Contacts patients and insurance representatives by phone or mail to check claim status, obtain insurance information, check interim billings, and counsel patients on financial arrangements.
• Maintains collection files on the accounts receivable system and enters detailed records for follow-up.
• Processes accounts for write-offs after thorough research and presents documentation for approval by the Billing and Collections Manager.
• Counsels patients regarding accounts and responds to inquiries; communicates with collection affiliates and provides information to the Credit Bureau as needed.
