Hirewell is partnering with a rapidly growing multi-state healthcare organization to hire an Accounting Manager, Medical Margin responsible for overseeing healthcare revenue and medical expense accounting, leading a two-person team, and transforming financial close processes. Reporting to the Controller, this role drives accurate reporting and internal control improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with people-management or team leadership.
• Professional accounting experience within the healthcare industry.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and monthly close processes.
• Experience with healthcare revenue recognition, payer arrangements, medical expenses, or related healthcare accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the medical margin accounting function, including healthcare revenue, medical expenses, accruals, and related financial reporting.
• Manage critical components of the monthly financial close, ensuring timely and accurate accounting activities.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial analyses.
• Lead payer reconciliations, ensuring accuracy between payer data, accounting records, and the general ledger.
• Analyze healthcare revenue and medical expense trends, identifying discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of two Senior Accounting Analysts.
• Partner closely with Medical Economics, Finance, IT, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment of operational and accounting data.
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and process documentation in accordance with GAAP.
• Identify opportunities to streamline close processes, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen operational efficiencies.
• Establish cross-training initiatives and standardized processes to ensure continuity across the accounting function.
• Support payer settlement activities, audit preparation, and other accounting initiatives.
• Assist with special projects and ongoing finance transformation efforts as the organization continues to scale.
