Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University, Office of General Counsel, Penn State Health, is seeking a licensed attorney to provide legal counsel and representation on healthcare matters. You will research the law and draft, review, and negotiate contracts and notices for PSH and its affiliates.

Responsibilities include evaluating claims, assisting outside counsel, developing policies, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• JD required with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Licensed Attorney - Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners.
• No sponsorship for visas.

Responsibilities

• Research the law and provide legal advice, consultation, and representation to PSH and affiliates.
• Advise on, negotiate, draft, edit, review, and execute legal documents including contracts, agreements, memoranda, correspondence, responses, and notices.
• Evaluate claim merit before litigation, and assist outside counsel during litigation.
• Work with General Counsel to define strategies for defending Penn State Health or for filing actions.
• Advise when matters require outside counsel retention, and retain and supervise outside counsel.
• Assist in developing institutional policies, procedures, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Represent the Office of General Counsel on system-wide committees.
• Keep abreast of changes in the law; review new statutes, regulations, and opinions.
