Job summary

Guardian Protection Products in Clearwater, FL is seeking a Design Engineer to assess project requirements, gather field data, and draft HVAC restoration plans. You will determine design needs, select equipment, and ensure smooth transition from design to construction while assisting the sales team as needed.

The role requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, 5+ years' industry experience, and AutoCAD drafting proficiency. EI certification with PE preferred; travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 5+ years of industry-specific experience.
• Experience with construction drafting in AutoCAD.
• EI certification with the ability to obtain a PE license preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite knowledge preferred.
• Experience with programming languages (VBA, C#, etc.) preferred.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms (Pro-Core, E-Builder, iAuditor, etc.) preferred.
• Ability to travel out of state up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site visits and assessments to understand project scope and technical requirements.
• Determines scope and designs solutions for HVAC restoration projects.
• Drafts construction documents and generates specifications for HVAC restoration projects.
• Uses in-house estimating tools to create project budgets.
• Assists the sales team with scope reviews and support as needed.
• Creates, maintains, and improves drafting tools and templates.
• Calculates estimated costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Ensures smooth transition from design to project execution and provides technical guidance.
