Job summary

Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a Patient Account Representative to verify insurance coverage, estimate patient responsibility, and support the A&R staff with accurate data for admissions across inpatient and outpatient services.

The role includes interviewing patients to verify demographics and insurance data, preparing billing packets, and applying for medical assistance when needed, ensuring accurate data entry and timely financial counseling.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Two years’ healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding helpful.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing.
• All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years.
• All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation.

Responsibilities

• Verify and collect patient demographic and insurance data.
• Prepare billing packets and verify insurance coverage.
• Interact with patients to estimate out-of-pocket expenses and assist with financial options.
• Enter data accurately into the computer system and update reports.
• Balance outpatient and inpatient daily statistics and related reports.
• Set up payment arrangements and collect payments for self-pay patients.
