Cedar County Memorial Hospital seeks a detail-oriented Healthcare Accountant to oversee and strengthen the financial operations of our rural hospital. You will manage general accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic financial planning in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.
• Minimum 5 years of healthcare accounting experience, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• General Accounting Duties
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare monthly statements
• Coordinate with accounts payable/payroll specialist
• Ensure timely and accurate journal entries and account reconciliations
• Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes
• Assist in annual financial audit & cost report workpaper preparation
• Prepare reports for senior management and external stakeholders
• Compliance & Audit
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and healthcare-specific financial standards
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits
• Maintain documentation for audit and regulatory purposes
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to support financial decision-making
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve financial performance
