Job summary

Our Lady of Consolation, a member of Catholic Health, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to sustain a safe, compliant nursing home facility in New York. The role covers light electrical and plumbing work, basic HVAC, and preventive maintenance of building systems and equipment, with attention to infection control standards.

Applicants should have a high school diploma with shop courses; healthcare or industrial facility experience is preferred and basic computer skills are helpful.

Qualifications

• High School equivalent with shop courses.
• Technical or vocational training in maintenance or mechanical systems preferred.
• Healthcare, nursing home or industrial facilities experience preferred.
• Ability to lift, push and pull equipment and materials as needed.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to complete light electrical and plumbing work.
• Knowledge of blueprints, hand tools, power tools and woodworking power tools required.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, infection control standards and nursing home polices.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and building systems.
• Monitor facility grounds and perform seasonal maintenance such as snow removal or salting when required.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Conduct preventive maintenance according to scheduled programs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records and work orders.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
• Report safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
