Lifeatheritage is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform daily inspections, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety equipment in a healthcare setting. You will complete preventative maintenance per healthcare standards, respond to urgent repairs, and support resident care by maintaining cleanliness and safety in rooms and common areas.

  • 2+ years of healthcare or regulated maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and life-safety systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
  • Basic computer skills for electronic maintenance logs and regulatory documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life-safety equipment, and building infrastructure.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with healthcare regulatory standards and facility policies.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and urgent repair needs that impact resident safety or comfort.
  • Maintain resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to ensure they meet cleanliness, safety, and accessibility standards.
  • Support the operation and inspection of life-safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, generators, and nurse call systems.
  • Assist with furniture setup, room turns, and minor renovations to support resident admissions and discharges.
  • Collaborate with nursing and administrative staff to minimize disruptions to resident care during maintenance activities.
  • Ensure safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and chemicals, following OSHA and infection control guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, preventative maintenance, and regulatory compliance logs.
  • Escort and supervise external contractors working on-site as needed.

Ability to work around residents with varying medical needs and maintain a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Basic computer skills for completing electronic maintenance logs and regulatory documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.

Familiarity with state and federal long-term care regulations (e.g., CMS, OSHA, Life Safety Code).

Certifications such as HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.

Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Strong customer service and communication skills with elderly residents and care staff.

Safety and compliance-focused mindset.

Reliability, accountability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Attention to detail and professionalism in a healthcare environment.

Full-time position; requires on-call rotation, evenings, weekends, or emergency response.

Work is performed throughout the facility, including resident rooms, mechanical rooms, and outdoor grounds.

Exposure to healthcare settings, requiring adherence to infection control practices and use of PPE.
