Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year physical plant and equipment experience in an institutional environment.
• Vocational training in skilled trade or other relevant training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competence in mechanical and technical concepts for facility repair and maintenance projects.
• Maintain essential mechanical, electrical and patient care equipment in safe operating condition.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions with analytic problem-solving.
• Apply building and safety codes to facility situations and maintenance procedures.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance throughout the physical plant and for all equipment.
• Test and maintain the emergency power system to ensure power for entrances, alarms and life support systems.
• Maintain equipment in safe operating condition in boiler rooms, nursing units, kitchens and laundry.
• Test the facility hot water system to evaluate temperatures in essential locations.
• Inspect, test and maintain call system to ensure functioning communication from rooms and facilities.
