Job summary

FutureCare Health in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform preventive maintenance and repairs across facility buildings and equipment. You will log temperatures, maintain records, and ensure safety compliance in daily operations.

You will also monitor budgets, follow purchase procedures, and uphold policies while assisting residents and staff with reliable, courteous service. This role requires a flexible shift and physical stamina.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• At least 2 years’ experience in building maintenance highly preferred.
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility environment a plus.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Must have a polite and courteous demeanor toward residents and staff.
• Ability to multi-task and work a flexible shift.
• Ability to meet physical demands with standing, bending, stooping, walking, and lifting at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing preventative maintenance for the facility, building, building systems, fire/safety equipment and medical equipment.
• Performs all necessary repairs and maintains accurate records and logs and produces required reports.
• Assures compliance with State and Federal Regulatory codes.
• Abides by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan.
• Maintains clean, safe working environment at all times of the maintenance workshop.
• Reads and logs refrigerator temperatures daily.
• Tests and logs water temperatures daily.
• Observes budgetary guidelines regarding supplies and service and follows proper procedures relating to FutureCare’s purchase order system.
• Adheres to facility policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
