Sterling Senior Care is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director with daily upkeep across resident areas and facilities. The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and maintaining a calm, respectful environment for residents.

Responsibilities include assisting with fire safety programs, PPE usage, MSDS records, and effective communication with residents and staff. Evening/weekend shifts and open availability may be required in this 24/7 healthcare setting.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience.

Mansioni

• Assist the Maintenance Director with day-to-day maintenance functions.
• Assist the Maintenance Director with daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing maintenance assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
• Ensure painting, rework or repairing of facility equipment is done per policies.
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and a calm environment throughout the facility.
• Assist with fire protection and prevention programs as required by safety policies.
• Ensure personnel wear and use safety equipment when lifting or moving heavy objects.
• Maintain safe, attractive work areas.
• Maintain MSDS records for hazardous chemicals in maintenance.
• Follow infection control and universal precautions in maintenance tasks.
• Ensure staff participate in in-service training when exposure to blood or hazardous materials occurs.
• Report occupational exposure incidents to the director.
• Ensure refuse is disposed of daily per sanitation procedures.
• Follow policies for PPE use and infectious waste disposal.
• Maintain resident privacy and dignity and interact with warmth and respect.
• Communicate effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
• Respond promptly to call lights in resident care areas.
• Report resident concerns to the appropriate department head.
• Attend departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
• Communicate with colleagues in a private and respectful manner.
• Work with computer systems designated by the company.
