Job summary

Redmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant to support maintenance operations at our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. This full-time role requires experience in general building maintenance and a hands-on approach to keep the environment safe, clean, and fully operational for residents and staff.

You will respond to work orders, assist the Maintenance Director with compliance and state surveys, and help coordinate

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in healthcare facility maintenance preferred.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting basics.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Understanding of life safety and regulatory requirements preferred.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with general facility maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and repairs.
Complete assigned work orders accurately and timely.
Assist with preventative maintenance schedules and compliance documentation.
Conduct routine inspections of rooms, common areas, equipment, and grounds.
Report safety hazards and maintenance issues to the Maintenance Director.
Coordinate with residents and staff when working in occupied areas.
