Job summary

Big-Bend-Woods-1 is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to keep the facility’s plant, equipment, and grounds safe and operating for residents, staff, and visitors. You will report to the Plant Supervisor or Director of Environmental Services and perform hands-on repairs and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities include basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC checks, handling work orders, safety drills, room turnovers, and grounds upkeep. On-call shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC systems.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work indoors or outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general building repairs.
• Complete routine maintenance schedules and inspect HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Log and complete daily maintenance requests using computerized tracking systems (such as TELS).
• Conduct daily facility rounds, check emergency lighting and alarms, and assist with drills.
• Prepare resident rooms for new admissions, including painting and fixture checks.
• Handle basic grounds maintenance, debris cleanup, and snow/ice removal.
• Participate in rotating on-call shifts for facility emergencies.
