Job summary

The Center at Advocate in Boston is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant Director to oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department and ensure the facility remains safe, clean, and compliant with healthcare standards.

You will supervise maintenance staff, schedule preventive maintenance, manage repairs across plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, assist with budgeting and purchasing, and coordinate safety drills with leadership to support residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor’s in Facilities Management preferred.
• 3–5 years in maintenance management; 2+ years in healthcare/long-term care preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs.
• Experience supervising a team with leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of safety, health, and regulatory standards in healthcare.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Director in managing daily operations and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Supervise, train, and support maintenance staff for efficient operation and safety compliance.
• Ensure timely completion of repair requests across plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Assist in managing the maintenance budget, purchasing, and inventory.
• Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations on building maintenance and safety.
• Maintain building, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean condition.
• Participate in safety drills and ensure fire prevention and emergency systems compliance.
• Prepare facilities for inspections and audits by regulatory bodies.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours coverage.
• Maintain communication with the Nursing Home Administrator and staff.
• Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, repairs, and budgets.
