Job summary

Norwalk Hospital Association is seeking an Environmental Services Associate to maintain cleanliness across hospital facilities. You will perform routine cleaning, set up patient rooms and use industrial cleaning equipment to ensure safe, sanitary environments for patients and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to communicate in English. A minimum of one year in healthcare or hospitality environmental services is preferred; training and teamwork with EVS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English and comprehend basic direction from management and Nursing Staff
• Minimum 1 year experience in environmental services in a healthcare or hospitality setting required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning of assigned areas in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
• Sets up patient rooms & cleans patient rooms after discharge in a timely manner.
• Utilize industrial cleaning machinery to perform certain cleaning assignments.
• Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure. Ensures all chemicals are diluted to the proper ratio and that all chemicals are properly labeled and locked up when not in use.
• Transports trash, biomedical and solid waste to appropriate disposal area.
• Distributes linens to patient wings and removes dirty linen (not applicable in all locations).
• Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions. Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and disinfectant according to procedure and cleaning routine to prevent the spread of infection.
• Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
• Performs special projects as assigned by EVS Lead.
• Collaborates with management to train new staff on assigned job duties
• Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
