Job summary

Merit Health River Oaks is seeking an Environmental Services Worker II to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will perform floor care, waste handling, linen management, and cleaning of patient rooms and common areas in line with infection control standards.

The role requires 1-3 years in environmental services or related hospital maintenance, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Certification in Environmental Services is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance required

Responsibilities

• Performs floor care including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Collects, removes, and disposes of waste following hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Handles soiled linens and replaces with clean bags, ensuring proper containment and storage.
• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, restrooms, corridors, offices and common areas per infection control standards.
• Responds to spills and contamination cleanups with proper disinfection and safety precautions.
• Moves furniture, floor mats, and equipment for cleaning or department relocations.
• Monitors supply usage and ensures safe storage and usage of supplies.
• Communicates maintenance and repair needs to supervisor or facilities department for timely resolution.
• Maintains accurate cleaning logs and documents completed tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all hospital policies and standards.
