Job summary

Good Samaritan in Canistota, SD is hiring an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a safe, sanitary environment in patient areas, hallways and support spaces. You will perform cleaning tasks, use appropriate PPE, and assist in laundry as needed, with a typical day shift and weekend/holiday rotation.

Responsibilities include flooring care, waste handling, and adherence to infection control procedures. The role requires physical stamina and reliable teamwork in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas.
• Empty waste baskets, sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors and operate cleaning equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes and infection control in a healthcare setting.
• Assist in laundry areas as appropriate and use technology applications as available.
• Lift up to 40–50 lbs and be on your feet for long shifts.
