DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

• Installs, maintains, and repairs AC and DC electrical wiring systems, power sources, laboratory equipment, and other components such as conduit, electrical panels, signal and alarm systems, lighting, receptacles, relays and controls, motors, generators, rectifiers, transformers, electric meters, etc. May replace interior and exterior lamps as necessary at varying heights.
• Performs installation, maintenance, and repair on overhead and underground electrical circuits and components. May perform oiling, cleaning, brush replacement, and other repair of equipment as required. May install, maintain, and repair circuits and equipment involving electronic components. Troubleshoots equipment, utilizing testing devices.
• Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment.
• Assists in preparation of cost estimates, material orders, maintenance of records, and preparation of reports.
• Observes and enforces all safety requirements related to equipment operation.
• May perform duties outside the trade area on an occasional basis, with consideration of safety, scheduling, and efficient use of staff and equipment.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
• Actual work experience and/or training, such as an apprenticeship or vocational training, in the trade.
• A valid driver’s license may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position, and positioning oneself to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
