Job summary

Milliman’s Indianapolis Health Practice seeks a Data Scientist to advance applied data science in healthcare, focusing on analytics enhancement and new AI/ML solutions. The role spans problem definition, analysis, deployment, and client communication with cross‑functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on healthcare data experience, strong statistical and ML expertise, and consulting skills to translate complex problems into scalable, practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Consulting‑Grade communication: clear client‑ready reports and stakeholder explanations.
• Applied ML & statistical rigor across modeling, analytics, and diagnostics.
• End‑to‑End ML delivery from problem framing to production adoption.
• Healthcare data experience including claims/encounters preferred.
• Experience translating outputs into structured, explainable artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and extend AI/analytics products for healthcare.
• Create interpretable ML models and explainable outputs.
• Communicate findings and limitations to non‑technical audiences.
• Apply advanced analytics including NLP, generative AI, and trend analysis.
• Own model performance, monitoring, and KPI dashboards.
• Support proposals with technical approaches and solution diagrams.
• Collaborate with domain SMEs to translate requirements into solutions.
• Work with data engineering on scalable pipelines and reproducibility.
• Balance innovation with maintainability and reliability.
