Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a data management professional to support the Michigan OPEN project. The role involves building and refining data pipelines to extract, clean, transform, and merge data from multiple sources.

You will develop analytic datasets, perform analyses, and produce dashboards and reports. The candidate will collaborate with researchers and data stewards, ensuring data quality, documenting data elements, and supporting grant-related submissions.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Computer Information Systems or related field with 2 years of experience
• Experience using multiple data sources, including healthcare datasets such as Medicaid, to develop dashboards and reports
• Proficiency in coding and debugging SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data
• Experience using Microsoft tools including SQL Server and Power BI for data transformation, calculations, visualizations, and reports

Responsibilities

• Perform data management tasks for the Michigan OPEN data, coordinating with analysts, researchers, and data stewards
• Develop and enhance data pipelines to extract, clean, transform, and merge data from diverse sources
• Create analytic datasets, merge datasets, and perform analyses using statistical software
• Summarize results and create reports or visual presentations
• Provide input on datasets to use for analyses and manage requests for datasets
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data exchange follows established protocols
• Develop methods to detect missing or poor data and assess quality before distribution
• Maintain data dictionaries and documentation of data elements and mappings
• Identify improvement opportunities and propose solutions for data management processes
• Support grant proposals, presentations, or scientific papers; up to 60% work-from-home
