Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a Controller to support the accounting operations of its hospital division in Houston, TX. This role will strengthen financial reporting, improve processes, and back a high-growth healthcare platform working closely with executive leadership.

The ideal candidate will have hospital accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and the ability to lead multi-entity operations while partnering with senior leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA candidate preferred.
• 5+ years hospital or healthcare experience required.
• Minimum of 10 years of work experience in accounting and healthcare.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and healthcare financial operations.
• Experience in multi-entity or complex healthcare environments.
• Proven ability to operate in a hands-on, fast-paced, growth environment.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Experience working with hospital systems or surgical centers.
• Exposure to Meditech or similar ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close, general ledger, and financial reporting for hospital and related entities.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and reporting requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with leadership.
• Assist in building and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and SOPs.
• Partner with operations to provide financial insight and performance analysis.
• Support audit processes and ensure readiness for external and regulatory reviews.
• Assist with multi-entity accounting across hospitals, surgical centers, and imaging facilities.
• Help scale the accounting function to support rapid growth and expansion initiatives.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff as the team grows.
