McKenzie Health System in Sandusky, MI seeks a Coding Specialist to perform ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding and abstracting, review documentation for accuracy, and follow up on rejected claims under the CBO Billing Manager.

This full-time daytime role requires medical terminology proficiency, attention to detail, and strong communication with clinicians and finance staff; CPC certification within 6 months of hire is preferred, with ongoing audits and reporting duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
• ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding experience (1–2 years) preferred.
• Experience with medical billing/insurance processing preferred.
• Procedure and diagnostic coding experience preferred.
• Medical Terminology course required.
• Anatomy and physiology course preferred.
• CPC certification within 6 months of hire preferred.

Responsabilités

• Code and abstract procedures and treatments per ICD-10-CM/CPT-4.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative documentation analysis for licensing/accrediting bodies.
• Review patient account files for accuracy and completeness; follow up on rejected claims.
• Answer coding-related inquiries from practices and customers; assist in coding reports.
• Conduct regular documentation audits and participate in special projects as assigned.
