Job summary

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is seeking a Coding Specialist I to join our Central Administration office in Toppenish, WA. You will identify and resolve issues affecting clinical charge postings and ensure accurate coding in Epic, while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA/Medicare compliance.

The role offers 1.0 FTE (40 hours/wk) with competitive hourly pay and comprehensive employer-paid health insurance, plus retirement and PTO benefits to support our mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months experience in healthcare coding or billing.
• Graduate of a medical coding program is preferred.
• Experience with a healthcare practice management system is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, research, and resolve issues that impede the successful posting of clinical charges.
• Posts charges in Epic per the Coding rules and conventions.
• Review charge documents for completeness and return incomplete documents to the source.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographics and medical and financial information at all times.
• Uphold Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA compliance guidelines in relation to billing, collections, and PHI information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
