Job summary

Qualifications

• Coding professional responsible for coding diseases, procedures and operations.
• Must obtain AHIMA/American Academy of Professional Coders credentials within 12 months of start date.
• Proficiency in English reading, writing and speaking for effective communication.
• Ability to collaborate with providers and business office to resolve denials and ensure accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes EMR to code diseases, procedures and operations for professional and facility services.
• Researches codes using HCPCS, coding initiatives and policies to ensure guideline adherence.
• Collaborates with providers for ongoing feedback on coding criteria and guidelines.
• Communicates current coding guidelines to providers and serves as documentation and coding resource.
• Assists Business Office with denial resolution and corrective action for resubmission.
• Monitors daily activity to ensure encounters are coded and submitted for billing.
• Performs documentation review and audits; works with physicians to interpret data trends.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.
