Job summary

MercyOne Davenport Medical Center, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a Part-time Spiritual Care Chaplain to provide compassionate, needs-driven spiritual support to patients, families, and staff. The role reports to the Spiritual Care Manager and participates in multidisciplinary rounds, with rotating 8-hour shifts totaling 16 hours weekly.

The chaplain will assess spiritual distress, offer crisis intervention, and collaborate with faith leaders while aligning with the hospital's Mission,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Theology, Religion, Spiritual Care, or Spirituality.
• 1–3 years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training.
• Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) strongly preferred via APC, CASC, NACC, or NAJC with 4 ACPE accredited units and faith-based endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Provide transformative Spiritual Care to patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff while honoring diverse religious beliefs.
• Assess religious and spiritual needs and provide interventions or referrals as appropriate.
• Document assessments and plans in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with the inter-professional team to integrate Spiritual Care into patient care.
• Help measure and improve Spiritual Care processes in line with Mission Integration strategy.
