Qualifications

• Must possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Candidates must meet physical and medical requirements for appointment.
• Appointees may be required to undergo periodic medical examinations.

Responsibilities

• Answers questions and gives directions to visitors to state facilities.
• Controls access by identifying visitors and maintaining a visitor log.
• Operates building security access and surveillance systems.
• Issues employee IDs and passes; maintains ID systems integrity.
• Operates detection equipment to screen individuals for prohibited items.
• Inspects buildings to detect fire/safety hazards and reports them.
• Patrols facilities to deter property damage and take preventive actions.
• Locks doors/windows and ensures facilities are ready for use as directed.
• Escorts or assists disabled persons entering or exiting buildings.
