Job summary

MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX is seeking a Public Safety Officer to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients, families, and employees to focus on care, research, and education.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of relevant work experience, and a valid Texas driver's license; IA HSS certification is preferred. The position offers rotating shifts and excellent benefits at $18.00–$23.08 per hour based on a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 1 year of relevant work experience required.
• Preferred: IA HSS certification and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards.
• Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure.
• Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus.
